The New York Paranormal Society

new york paranormal societyThe New York Paranormal Society is a science-based team in New York City formed to research and investigate claims of the paranormal, anomalous and unexplained. Unlike many investigative groups who concentrate on one aspect of the paranormal, The New York Paranormal Society researches many different areas of the unexplained. Inspired by the work of such well-known paranormal researchers and anomalists as Charles Fort and Loren Coleman, we investigate claims of parapsychology, the supernatural, ufology, cryptozoology, folklore & urban legends, and more.

Our team is comprised of experienced investigators who have a passionate interest in all things paranormal and have investigated a number of famous locations, such as The Bridge Café in Manhattan, Sam's Bar & Grill in New Jersey, St. Andrew's Church, Snug Harbor and The Garibaldi-Meucci Museum on Staten Island, as well as numerous private homes in the Tri-State area. In the past we have been interviewed by a number of media outlets including NBC News, NY1 News, The New York Daily News, TAPS Paramagazine, DNAInfo, The Staten Island Advance, 91.1 WFMU, 88.9 WSIA, "Dark Matters" on the Science Channel, "Love/Lust" on the Sundance Channel, and more. All of our investigators hold BA and advanced degrees from accredited colleges in such areas as psychology, history, journalism, English and education.

Our approach to all paranormal cases is one of objectivity. We always start by looking for rational, scientific explanations for claims of activity, and only once all rational explanations have been excluded do we consider a case to be possibly paranormal. All of our investigations are conducted completely free of charge.

"We ignore, at least psychologically, most of what happens around us. The rationalistic filters allow for only the mundane details of most interactions to awaken a response." - Loren Coleman
